- uneasy feelings
I am currently a tad frustrated. My Palm Treo 700p decided to "freak out" yesterday afternoon, putting itself in an endless rest loop. I called Verizon technical support and the final conclusion was that I would have to do a "hard reset", subsequently loosing all my data. This couldn't come at a worse time, as I just got a lot of updated contact info at the reunion last week, none of which I have backed up to my computer yet.
I initially thought this could be an opportunity presented to myself via good Karma, possibly this was some ammo to use in my argument about not having to pay the $175 fee for when I switch to AT&T to use the iPhone. I attempted said argument at a local Verizon store with no prevail.
At that point, I decided I had to do the "hard reset"...so I did it, and nothing changed, still the same reset loop. Being sickened with the thought of having to see any of the people I just argued with, I went to another Verizon store. They said I needed a new phone and that they would order it, only problem, is that it would take a few days. I told them that was cool, I could just use a "loaner" phone until then...they said they couldn't do that. I explained I couldn't leave the store until I had a phone, as I don't have a "land line" so they needed to figure something out. The solution was that they are going to next day FedEx my phone and they GUARANTEED it would be here today. Worthy to mention, I had to argue with someone just to waive the FedEx costs...which is crazy, I'm already loosing all my data and going without the phone. Whatever. So here I am, waiting. I have a bunch of stuff I need to do, but I'm afraid to leave, if I miss the package, how am I going to call them to schedule a pickup?
There is a lot I could blog about regarding the uneasy feeling I have being without a phone, but I don't really want to talk about it right now. The last time I was, "unplugged" was least year, but I was on a cruise drinking mojitos and making friends, this scenario is much different.
I'm going to do some quick running around now, as I doubt the delivery will be within the next 2-3 hours. Then I'm going to come back here and wait.
