Aren't I so nice?

Over a week later, I finally get around to writing another blog post. UGGG to me. I blame the fact that I don't have a working laptop. As some may remember, I previously discussed technical issues with my slightly old Powerbook, the issue is definitely the logic board. I just need to bring it in and pay the approximate $300 it will cost to fix it, and then I will be up and running, but then I just keep thinking about how nice it would be to install Production Premium CS3 on a new Intel dual-core, and I face the realization that whether or not I am willing to admit it, I am currently in the market for a new laptop. I am hoping that sometime after the beginning of the new year, Apple will release a new Pro line of laptops, which I would then look to buy with my hopefully significant 2007 tax returns. We will see. I'm going to still take my current laptop in, just to have something in front of me so I can watch TV guilt free, and not be thinking about a million things I would like to be doing on the computer. I find myself purchasing and watching a ton of iTunes TV shows, just to have something on when I'm working on stuff, it would be nice to be able to sit in the living room or in bed for a change, opposed to only the office.

Ahhh yes, I can see where this post is already heading, anyone not looking for some random geek talk, you are advised to turn around immediately.

I ordered a green chroma screen with stand today. It is 11'x12' big, which will provide amble room for some of the ideas I have in my head. I ordered and received a camera tripod last week, it's still in the box, but within the next month, I hope to wrap up a few web projects, and look to focus the majority of my time "on projects like this" working on my video. I will be sending out an email in the near future to various people, inviting them to come over and dance to some songs I have picked out. The list could change, but if I was to start the project tomorrow, the 2 songs I would use for this part of the video is:
UZI (Pinky Ring) by Wu Tang Clan
and
Drop It Like It's Hot - the instrumental version

The chroma screen will be used in many projects, but a dance video is likely the first project to test out it's usefulness. I am so excited for the moment when my new Photo Album is finished, I am looking forward to a hopefully long break away from heavy coding. I had to take a small break away from work on the Photo page over this past week as I worked on two different web sites. I will likely look to minimize any technology related obligations to others during the next few months as video work kicks into high gear, but would obviously not turn down an either super interesting or super lucrative deal.

I am excited for Leopard to be released on the 26th and I don't really care about 3rd Party Apps on the iPhone at the moment, but am interested to see what comes out this coming February.

I have the first of four softball games between tonight and Monday. It luckily is not pouring like it was at our last game. Better rain than snow. I wish it could stay summer all year long.

Well I need to get going, no time to even proof read this entry. I hope everyone has a nice day, on whichever day you read this, and all days following. Aren't I so nice?

ps - anyone else notice that I usually just copy and paste a random/obscure/unrelated line from the entry and make it the subject? I'm not deceptive, I'm lazy :-)

Things have been pretty busy lately. I've hosted some company at the house since Sunday. It was very fun but going out every night, even if only for a little bit, definitely made me kind of tired. My brain stopped working a few hours ago :-(

I don't have any plans this weekend, and I couldn't be anymore thrilled. I'm going to New Orleans next weekend for a bachelor party. I'm going with some of the craziest people I know, so that will be very interesting/exciting. If it rains this weekend, I will hopefully put in a lot of time in with some of the video projects I have been working on/thinking about. I am still in the initial stages of getting totally comfortable with the CS3 Production Premium stuff but I am happy to report that just a little while ago, I was able to accomplish an idea that I have been thinking about over the past few days. I didn't really accomplish implementing the idea, but I now know it is possible, and I now know how to set it up. There are so many different areas to dive into with these programs, it can almost be overwhelming.

I went through some videos the other day when a few friends were over. I would say that %30 percent of my footage is inappropriate to ever be reproduced, %40 is appropriate for a limited audience, and %30 is appropriate for everyone/anyone. I think that as time goes forward, points will be taken away from the percentage of footage that is inappropriate and will be given to the percentage that is appropriate, for a general audience. Contributing factors in this prediction include the fact that I can not imagine the next 10 years of my life producing as many inappropriate video moments that the past 10 have produced. Luckily, the entertainment value of video does not necessarily decrease with it's inappropriateness. Wasn't that interesting.

I am going to goto bed now. Here are a few pictures I took with the iPhone today when I was in NYC. Today was the first of many travel scenarios involving the iPhone. I am not disappointed with it's performance. I used it constantly throughout the day, including an episode of The Office, a few hours of music playing, phone calls, pictures and many emails. At the end of the day, I charged it on my train ride home, as it said the battery was @ %20. This is very acceptable.

Worthy to note is the fact that I ran into an old buddy from home at Penn Station who was taking the same train I was. We had an entertaining ride back.

Good night.

So, the issue with the cat turned out to be a semi false alarm. It took around an hour for someone to show up to check it out. During that hour, I periodically attempted to get the cats attention, it would acknowledge my efforts by barley opening it's one eye and couldn't come close exerting any energy. Much to my surprise, when the police officer showed up it hobbled off the couch and started to walk around. The officer definitely agreed that it needed to be taken in by an animal shelter, but our efforts of trying to lure the cat into captivity with a bowl of milk were unsuccessful. I will continue to keep an eye out for the cat, with the hopes that I can get it in a basket or something and get it to the right people.

I DVR'd "John From Cincinnati", I am really excited to watch it soon. "Letters from Iwo Jima" just got released in HD on Xbox Live, they had the standard def version out for a few weeks but I felt it was worth waiting for this previously announced version to finally be downloadable. I heard it was even better than "Flags of Our Fathers", yet I don't see how, as it is unlikely to have any people who were later sung about by Johny Cash. I saw the new Harry Potter movie last night, it was very good. Definitely the best one yet. Very, very good. I don't read the books so I never know what is going to happen next! It is so exciting for me. People always say I am missing out on a ton but I don't really care, maybe I will get it on audio book someday, maybe not. I bet I enjoy the movie better than anyone who has read the book, maybe there is something to be said about that!

After a good run, USA got eliminated from the U20 Men's World Cup. I am pretty disappointed that I didn't plan my summer better, they were held in some parts of Canada which are definitely close enough for me to Travel to. Specifically Montreal. In College, I took the 1 credit course, "Model UN". I did enjoy in the mock diplomatic sessions but the main reason I took the class was for the big conference held by McGill University in Montreal. I took Model UN for three years. The two years I went to Montreal were very awesome, absolutely crazy crazy times. The one year I didn't go was not as fun, at least in terms of that class. I went out the night before the trip pretty hard, I thought staying up late would would just lead to a quick bus trip via a long nap, yet I did not consider the scenario of me sleeping through my alarm clock. Just reminiscing about waking up 10 minutes after the bus was supposed to leave, still being a tad tipsy, grabbing my already packed bag, and running across the snowy campus, just to see the freshly made bus tracks, gives me the weebee geebies. I talked up that trip so much that everyone I knew, knew about the trip. Having to goto my classes those days and explaining to students and faculty alike about why I was there was not very cool at all. I hate being rushed, or even worse, too late.

On that solemn note, we should wrap things up. I have modified the live index page of this site a little bit ,this is now Splash 8.2 . The most significant addition is the ability to add a user name under "user information"[for users who are logged in]...a feature that was present for a while, but then disappeared. I can't even remember when or why I took it out.

...and a screen shot from the final minutes of the game, which I enjoyed at a cool new sports bar right around the corner:

...and from the inside, out, good night.

-I started doing some changes on the comments section of this site. For some reason, I started making the changes on the live index page, opposed to on a side page which I would later make live. I luckily got them to a point which is legible but there is still a decent amount still to do.

-a friend and I went to Panera for the third night in a row tonight.

-my softball game was canceled tonight due to rain

-I enjoy the new HBO show "John from Cincinnati" a lot. I believe they are going on episode 6, very good stuff.

-reseting the iPhone (same as restarting a computer) really took care of the weird issues I was experiencing, such as the slider not waking up the phone.
quick question...

I heard once that if a person consumes too much alcohol, the possibility exists that they might forget something that happened while they were drunk. Do you think that it is possible that a person could think about something that happened prior to them getting drunk, consequently moving that thought to the part of their memory that they are going to lose? I don't really think that is true, but it has crossed my mind on more than one occasion. I am kind of interested if there is a definitive answer out there, but I'm too afraid to Google the topic. I was watching a news program like a week ago, it was covering a murder trial of a man who was on trial for killing his wife. I was completely shocked when I learned that a stunning proportion of the prosecutors evidence against the accused husband was based on web search history and even music downloads. The defense correctly argued that a search history taken out of context can be twisted to mean anything. How can one be held accountable if they have a curiosity sparked by a countless number of possibilities and they decide to search the undoubted best resource for information, the internet. I am not under the impression that the prosecutor actually used data provided by Google, rather they likely searched the defendants computer, which would definitely provide some king of idea about internet queries, downloads, etc... If that assumption is incorrect, and a search engine did actually provide that type of information, then I am much more concerned than before. I doubt that is true though, as there would likely be a little more hype than some random news show that didn't even point out what I am rambling about now. It isn't that I am actually worried about my search history being used against myself, but if it ever did become customary practice to supbeona ones internet usage as evidence against them in court, then I think it would be time for some of the people suing towns for displaying Christmas trees to start focusing all their extra time and energy to a better cause. Only meaning, anything taken out of context can mean anything, and that will have to be the bottom line.

Just imagine if this picture was taken out of context, what would people think?

From the inside, always trying to keep the context straight, out, good night.
random nothingness.

- random - Shrek 3 - Ira Hayes - LOST
I am very much in content at this exact moment. For the first time in a few weeks I am not rushing to get work done on the new site. I have a head full of issues and pending improvements that are way overdue, but the site, although sometimes cumbersome does allow some of the very basic tasks I set forth to accomplish.

Since I did not have the desire to blog about nothingness while I had a whole bunch of alotness to work on, there are many topics that I usually like to discuss which have recently been the subject to some negligence on my part. In the name of sanity, decency, and pure logistics; I will not attempt to write about every random nothingness thought I have had over the past few weeks. Instead, I will spread things out a bit...when the well gets dry, maybe I'll dip into some crazy stories, like HOW CHARLIE DIED IN LOST! YESSSSSSS!!!!!.

How funny is that. I start talking about some "crazy" stories I am saving in my back pocket, and as an example, I start talking about a TV show. Just the other week, a girl on my softball team is like, "You must watch a lot of TV"...I was like, "Ummm, OK, whatever that means"...and then she is like, "Well you always write about them in your team emails". OK, you got me. But ladies and gentleman of the jury, let's put things into context here. First off, for the record, I do not watch a ton of TV, I just REALLY enjoy the few shows I watch, and I try to share this enjoyment with those around me. LOST, Office, Heroes, ROME, Entourage...yes, I like these TV shows, I like them a lot...yes I am American. What good American wouldn't enjoy the shows I just named? None I know. You see, the biggest factor in the reason behind why I talked about LOST so much in my weekly coaches email to the softball team is that the majority of our games have been on Thursday...hence my email went out on Wednesday...hence my brain was only thinking about that nights episode. Since everyone on my team is American, I assumed everyone else was thinking the same thing. Finally, the only other example of references I made to television shows was a comment I made about a team who's name was "Gym Class Heroes" and the fact that they were likely frauds, since I knew what real Heroes are capable of and doubted that I would see anything cool when we played them. And you wanna know something? NOT ONCE during that game did ANYONE do ANYTHING even close to what I see on NBC's Heroes...thus my allegation of fraud, thus the fact that said allegation was correct. People really just need to sit back and let me do the driving sometimes.

I saw "Shrek 3" tonight...I liked it a lot. It followed the general feel and flow of the previous two installments of being a satire on childhood fairy tails, and thus left this kid satisfied.

I saw "Flags of Our Fathers" the other day. I enjoyed that one a lot too. I have always enjoyed the Johny Cash song about Ira Hayes, and now I know a little bit more about him...as well as Iwo Jima.

I saw some really crazy stuff over the extended Memorial Weekend we are all still recovering from, but this is neither the venue nor audience for such stories.

In closing, I leave you with a cute little picture of Pugsley. I have a stock collection of Pugsley pictures to last me a lifetime, and he reminds me of the baby Shreks in the movie.

From the inside, out, good night.
