- fathers day
What better occasion to share a brief writeup on my father than on father's day?
A few weeks ago the program for his school's athletic banquet was dedicated to him with the following words:
We dedicate the 44th Annual Athletic Banquet program book to Tom DeSantis. Tom DeSantis began his teaching career in 1973 at Holy Trinity School and later served as Principal at Our Lady of Pompeii School. In 1993 he was named Assistant Principal at Bishop Grimes Junior-Senior High School. Tom is affectionately known by all as "Mr. D". The scope of his role at Bishop Grimes goes beyond his responsibilities for Student Activities and Student Discipline. Although he is "tough" on the kids and maintains very high expectations for them, he is well respected by the students and is a valuable asset to the school. Aside from the disciplinary side of Mr. D, he is also a source of support, strength and guidance for many. He will offer heartfelt words of encouragement and even an "I love you" to his students who may be having a difficult time. And he can be heard daily during the dismissal announcements, where he always ends with "And remember, that God does love you!"
Mr. D. is always a positive support for our students, whether in academics or athletics. When it comes to athletics, he genuinely enjoys taking part as a spectator. You can find him in the stands at football and soccer games, basketball and volleyball games, and baseball, softball and lacrosse games. He attends both home and away games, always ready and willing to cheer our Grimes athletes on. Mr. D has even gone so far as to put his mustache on the line as an incentive to have the athletes strive harder in their competitions and to win at the state level. If any of our teams were to reach this achievement, he is willing to shave off his mustache, a sight that no one has everseen, not even his wife!
We thank Mr. D for his continued support to our children and athletes. And in his, own words, as can be viewed inside the program book, "The mustache remains!"

I think that write up is great, but obviously not even close to as great as my dad :)
Happy fathers day to him and all the other dad's out there!

- NASA - Cooperstown - Fathers Day - Celtics
I remember when I was younger, I somehow got the phone number for some NASA office that would mail information packets and posters for practically any mission or space topic I could think of. I would tell them I was working on a school project, and a few days later tons of information would arrive. I was like 9, so getting poster tubes and boxes marked NASA yielded almost overwhelming amounts of excitement.
That flashback can be attributed to the TV show "Left Earth" I currently have on. The flashback I wont talk about involves the cool rain forest and underwater posters I used to have in my room as a young child. That flashback can be attributed to the aforementioned flashback, specifically due to me asking myself why I never hung any of those NASA posters up. I could get stuck in an endless loop of enjoyable childhood flashbacks, which would be nice, but kind of counter productive, so let's not let that happen.
Now I have the Celtics/Laker game on. I definitely want the Celtics to win, not for myself, but for my friends. Personally, I'm a tad sick of the city of Boston winning so much lately.
This past weekend was very diverse. Definitely a little bit of everything. I didn't do a ton, but I kind of did. Nothing to get into now.
Cooperstown is coming along a tad slowly, but definitely nicely. I'm currently at the very tail end of a function, but keep getting a query error. Don't worry, it will be OK.
Here is a nice picture my Mom took of my Dad and I as we celebrated fathers day, the two people responsible for all of my enjoyable childhood flashbacks.
Huge game for our softball team tomorrow, everyone make sure to wear purple and gold to work to show your support.
Good night.

- fathers day
Happy Fathers day to all applicable parties. I am excited because I will get to see my parents in a few hours. I just emailed them, opposed to calling, as I am still phoneless; such topics will be temporarily tabled due to the holiday.
Todays holiday made me quickly think about my friends with children. A few of my close friends have had some post marriage children, with one of them just becoming a father like a week ago. I would have to say that I have less than a handful of good friends with children, but I expect that number to multiple by an exponential factor over the next 5 years. It's funny to think about all the crazy things you have seen your friends do, and then think about that person being responsible for a baby. I can luckily say with confidence, that regardless of past craziness I have been witness of, all of my friends who currently have children will do a great job raising them. I look forward to having children some day, I hope I have 2 boys before a girl. I figured I can train the boys to be a first line of security against any potential boyfriends for said daughter. Furthermore, I hope the children take a liking to all activities involving the water, various land sports including but not limited to soccer, products made by Apple, being nice to others, being studious, and life.
Ah yes, wasn't this is pleasant. I have about a million things I should have done yesterday as I was waiting for a package that never came. To all old, new, soon to be, and a while to be dads, but especially my dad, happy fathers day.
