It is disappointing to start a day off on such bad notes.
-AT&T has told me on two different occasions that they are going to call me back at specific times, but they have missed both occasions, with the most recent being today @ 10am. I am yet still semi-satisfied with the customer services I have received thus far, as I semi-understand how busy their reps must be troubleshooting various activation issues. Time will tell if my issue gets resolved.
-I committed to going to New Jersey for this weekend about 2 months ago. I was to ride down this afternoon with two very pretty and very cool girls, I was going to visit one of my good buddies who recently moved there, we were going to goto the beach, I just got done completely bailing on the entire weekend. I received a call yesterday from another buddy who is flying in from Florida tomorrow. He asked if I could pick him up, I explained my plans, he told me he could just rent a car, but asked that I make sure my sheets were clean, as he has a key to my house. My decision, neither obvious nor necessarily correct, was very difficult to make. I weighed out probable and unlikely scenarios alike, with my final determination being:
The kid is still playing in the game, but he can't travel. We're gonna play at home this weekend and then look for an away game later in the season. Game on.
That's my story on todays broken promises.
-In regards to waking up at 27 for the first time in my life, I have to say it felt pretty good. I realized the other day when I was looking at my calendar that I have accidentally been telling the majority of people that I was already 27. For an undocumented number of months I have been under the impression that I was 27, soon to be 28. This phenomenon will likely have no long term repercussions, except to further be used as an example of my inabilities to properly state my current age on the fly.
-Also worthy to note, throughout my birthday and on the 4th, when my parents visited, I found myself reminiscing about back in the day. During all of my summers up to and including my senior year of high school, my family and I would pack up all of our stuff and move out to our camp on Skaneateles Lake for the summer. It was a perfect camp, right on the lake, with sailboats, jet ski's, row boats, and motor boats galore. My whole family would spend the summers out there. My boring days were filled with swimming and jet skiing and my busy ones were filled with sailing lessons; is there a better life out there, anywhere? No. Every 4th of July would be absolutely insane, with the level of fireworks eventually reaching a level where my cousins had to dig big holes to bury the tubes which would launch the firework mortars. On the 5th, my parents would cook my favorite meal for the entire family, steak and twice baked potatoes. There are no memories in my head, other than any involving my parents, which I hold fonder than those of spending all my summers at the lake. I consider myself very lucky to have those memories.
-In regards to the iPhone which I have had for just about 2 days now, here is my initial reactions :
* I can not send MMS messages (Text messages with pictures), one of my favorite things in the world
* I am still waiting for my verizon phone number to be ported to AT&T, I currently get calls from that number, but can't make them (I have my old phone forwarding everything)
* When I check my email on the phone, it doesn't update on the server that it has been read. (an option I imagine future software versions will offer)
With that said, I am completely confident making the following statement:
"Buying the iPhone was an absolutely excellent decision"
* In my opinion, it is over a decade more advanced than my previous phone, the Palm Treo 700p. Apple actually got it right.
-OK, almost done. In regards to the picture album page I have been talking about here and there over the past few weeks; I am about 15 hours ( rough estimate!)into it's development, and thus far it is coming along very nice. For any dorks out there, here is a link to the page in it's VERY beta form: pic.php .
Alright, I'm going to take the iPhone out for a walk, it's been stuffed up inside way too long. Have a nice day.
ps - here is an enjoyable little clip I saw from David Pogue, on the iPhone:
