- American Idol - Magic Stick - John from Cincinnati - Pest Control - Bermuda
It seems like forever since I have written a blog post. This makes me a little upset with myself, but I will not allow it to ruin the night. I just really don't know where to begin. I think I might jump all over the place, while I will try to maintain some chronological order, I will make no promises.
-I have been doing so many things lately, I feel like I should at least question whether or not some of this busyness is due to procrastination on my part. After thinking about it for a little while, I have concluded that procrastination, as well as myself, are not to blame for my lack of spare time. Furthermore, I have concluded that the said lack of spare has been acceptable, and not even slightly burdensome.
-The spring softball season ended this weekend with a night game Friday and an afternoon game Saturday. In a Perfect Storm like combination of events, my good friend/ex softball teammate was up for the weekend and stayed at my house, as well as played in both games. I felt the historically awkward feeling that you get when you see the sun come up two nights in a row. Part of me wants to be happy about all the fun I am pretty sure I just had, and part of me feels kind of upset because you know you probably shouldn't still be awake, and your heart definitely shouldn't be pumping as fast as it is. With that said, it was a very fun weekend, even though we unfortunately only won one of our two games.
-Chatter that I have been monitoring for a few weeks turned surprisingly true as I learned yesterday from Bard that he will in fact be auditioning for American Idol tomorrow in Miami, in front of Paula, Simon, and Randy. There was a screening process Sunday that he successfully navigated through, which now leads him to that infamous audition. This is really an ideal situation. He has unknowingly been preparing for this moment his whole life. He is 100% better than 65% of the people I have seen on the show, talent wise; and 100% more entertaining than 100% of them. I will be following this very closely.
-I have gotten a lot done on the New Orleans video, picture slide show, but I need a good 8-10 more hours to wrap it up. The lessons learned during this project will prove to be invaluable.
-I took the laptop to the Apple Store today because it has been sick. We are pursuing a software approach, but might have to resort to a hardware fix. An employee at the store said I should just buy a new one, opposed to pay the $350 flat fee involved in a repair. I looked at him at thought STUPID, but I smiled. Little does that employee know that I would choose to save that laptop over him, if they were both drowning (knowing it's fried circuits would make it no more than a beautiful paperweight).
-I believe Apple will come out with a 8.5 by 11 inch device, that will, simply put, resemble the iPhone. I will talk to you for hours if you want to know why.
-Terminex told me that on a scale of 1 - 10, my house is at a level 2, in regards to bugs and mice and stuff like that. I told the exterminator man that his news made me happy, and that I would like to continue my enrollment in their protection plan to ensure myself, as well as my tenants, can live pest free.
-I now remember why it has been so long since my last blog post. The mud eating scumbags at HBO have done it again. They have literally ripped the heart out of my chest, again. They canceled "John from Cincinnati". I can almost not bear to even talk about it, or even talk about anything else. That show was SO good. It definitely rivaled LOST in it's attractiveness to my brain. HBO did this same exact thing a few years ago with "Carnival". After a SUPER climatic season 2 finale/cliffhanger, they canceled the show. To this day, I have not gotten over Carnival, and then then take John. UGGG...I get a huge stomach ache even thinking about these shows, or even HBO (unless something good is on). If anyone wants to research, and then tell me, where I can buy the books or manuscripts or whatever, telling me about whatever was written for these two shows, after they got canceled, then I would consider myself to owe you a great, non-financial, debt.
-I have entered into a project with a friend. It involves a website and a client. I am excited about it.
There is just so much more to talk about, yet I needed to goto bed like forever ago. In less than one week I will be in Bermuda, with my parents, in the sun, on a cruise. I don't even allow myself to think about how much fun it is going to be, as there are so many things that I need to do before I go.
That was a quick glimpse of the inside.
I hope your inside is going well.
From mine, to yours, good night.

- After Effects - John from Cincinnati - Transformers - About me
Nothing too exciting to report today. I just finished up what I believe to be the last bit of computer work to be done this weekend. I have a stack of mail I've been neglecting to open, so maybe I'll work on that exciting mission.
I was able to stay on course with my original weekend plans of "taking it easy". My body is a few steps closer to being prepared for the fast approaching weekend in New Orleans, 5 days away.
I put a good handful of hours into working with some video projects and an even bigger handful of hours doing some tidying up on the web site. I primarily focussed the majority of web work on making the site display properly in Internet Explorer, I am happy to report that my efforts did not go unrewarded, as the right hand column, as well as user comments, now display closer to how I have intended them to.
I'm almost done uploading all of my digital camcorder tape from back in the day to the computer. Some of this video is really funny, it is unfortunate a decent amount of it can never be reproduced :-( Once this is complete, I will be able to start labeling clips and laying out a timeline for
Discomentary, Volume 1. I'm pretty interested to see how this video turns out. I am aiming for about an hour long DVD that will contain photos and pictures, mixed together with cool visual/audio effects. I believe this project will take 3-4 months. I believe I will need to buy a greenscreen, for some
bluescreen editing/effects. I have a head full of ideas that I am excited to try out.
The weather this weekend turned out a lot better than first predicted. This made me make a slight alteration to my original plan, as I added some outdoor activity involving soccer and bike riding to today and yesterday.
I saw the movie Transformers last night with a friend. It was good. I am happy I saw it in the theater.
I am excited for tonights episode of John From Cincinnati. I believe the preview painted the picture that something was going to happen to Shaun, I hope not, because he is cool. Not as cool as John, but still cool.
This is such a boring post, I don't know why I will even bother clicking submit, but I will, because I know even a boring glimpse of the inside, for you, is better than no glimpse at all. It is too bad you can't listen to the video footage as it is being imported in the background. The current tape is New Years 2003. It is pretty outrageous.
I leave you not only with the desire of wanting more, but with a screen shot of an After Effects project I was experimenting with Friday night.
Oh, and Splash 8.36 is the current "live" page. Besides improvements for IE, it also includes the start of a "footer" to the page. An "About Me" section if you will. As if I could ever sum myself up with words! Fear not, I will put much thought into what I will write.

- Soccer - John from Cincinnati - phone number - iPhone
I enjoyed watching the Galaxy vs Chelsea soccer game Saturday. Beckham went in for about 13 minutes. He got a few touches of the ball but nothing too notable happened. At one point he was on the receiving end of a fair yet hard tackle, he definitely showed a quick moment of anguish as he got up, but it's definitely nothing he's not used to. I think I am going to watch more Galaxy. I was totally impressed with LA's number 17, Xavier, he was probably more involved in that game than any other LA player, besides maybe Cobi Jones. Cobi had a ton of touches/plays, a decent shot or two, and definitely performed very well. Another big name player on that squad is Landon Donovan, he did not doing anything that would stand out too much, except an open header goal opportunity pass, which he received and handled poorly. Overall, I would say LA handled the much more talented Chelsea well, I was surprised to hear that their current standing in the MLS is very low.
I got to play soccer twice today. Earlier in the day I road my bike to the place I like to go and then later, a friend and I were playing frisbee in the same park and ended up playing in a pick game that is held there every Sunday evening. It's definitely a illegitimate game. The vast majority of the people who play are from Haiti. They range from what I would say to be late high school, to college, to straight adult. These dudes have been playing soccer their whole lives, they are really fast, and definitely have skills. Last year I played with them a ton more than this year. All the games I remember playing last year where more around 11 v 11, opposed to the teams of 5-6 tonight. One night, a whole other team came to scrimmage. It was a bunch of guys from Mexico and they had jerseys, shin guards, the whole 9 yards, it was crazy. It's such a pick up game, as they use trashcans for goals, no out of bounds, just passing with precise ground shots. I like it when I get a chance to play in those pick up game, but definitely am not in the shape right now to do it every day :-)
I am very tired. I would like to get into work early, so I can get out early, so I can drive to the Casino early, with my buddy who is staying with me until Wednesday. We will see.
HBO's "John from Cincinnati" is really just a top notch show. I'm not even going to get into it, because I don't even know what exactly is going on... but it is really just a great, great show. If any one wants to talk about it, then call me up.
Uggg...I need to write an email soon to people to give them my new number. Such a pain. Why did I hear all this mumble jumble about some law that was passed to ensure people could keep their current phone number when they switch carriers? That law was definitely just a bunch of hype. Whatever, the iPhone is the most amazing device I have ever even thought of. I use things like the Google Map Search all the time to find places. I have looked up certain kinds of take out multiple times this past week, all I did was type the category and then my zip code...boom, a map shows you all the spots, you tap a spot, you see the number, you tap that, you order. It actually works like it does in the commercials. I really can't even tell you how worth the iPhone is. When I look at all the things I waste money on, that provide so little additional functionality, or value,to my day in and day out life, the iPhone was a bargain.
As previously stated, I am tired, good night.

- random - John from Cincinnati - Panera
-I started doing some changes on the comments section of this site. For some reason, I started making the changes on the live index page, opposed to on a side page which I would later make live. I luckily got them to a point which is legible but there is still a decent amount still to do.
-a friend and I went to Panera for the third night in a row tonight.
-my softball game was canceled tonight due to rain
-I enjoy the new HBO show "John from Cincinnati" a lot. I believe they are going on episode 6, very good stuff.
-reseting the iPhone (same as restarting a computer) really took care of the weird issues I was experiencing, such as the slider not waking up the phone.
